4-Week Fall Speed & Defense Training w/Coach Dashawn With a full administrative team now in place, I am able to return to what I enjoy most—teaching, motivating, and developing athletes. My areas of expertise in baseball are speed and defense. Professional scouts evaluate players using five key tools: Natural hitting power Ability to consistently hit high-velocity pitching Arm strength Defensive range Natural speed Players such as Barry Bonds, Mike Trout, Julio Rodríguez, and Ken Griffey Jr. have elite scores in all five areas listed above. Admittedly, I was overage in three of the five, but I was drafted by the Seattle Mariners as a center fielder because of my speed and defensive abilities. Although speed was my natural talent, I worked extremely hard to improve my measurable metric performance to the times below: 60-Yard Dash 6.8 seconds in college 6.47 seconds during my second year of Mariners Spring Training Home-to-First 4.0 seconds in college 3.8 seconds during my second year of Mariners Spring Training 40-Yard Dash 4.4 seconds in college 4.36 seconds professionally Shortly after being drafted by the Mariners, they informed me that I would be transitioning to middle infield because Griffey and I were the only two centerfielders who drafted that year. The instruction and knowledge I learned as middle infielder and centerfielder, taught by some of the best defensive instructors at the professional level, helped me develop the techniques I now use to teach professional-level fundamentals for both infielders and outfielders, while maximizing athleticism in defensive play. I want to make sure every player I work with understands the importance of speed, quickness, and defense as foundational tools for long-term success in baseball.
